How much does a kitchen or bathroom renovation cost in Sydney?
The cost depends on the room size, any layout changes, and the fixtures and finishes you choose. Moving plumbing, custom cabinetry and premium tiles or stone all add to the price. We visit your home for free, then give you an itemised written quote before any work starts.
How long does a bathroom or kitchen renovation take?
The timeframe depends on the scope of work, the materials you choose and whether the layout changes. Your quote includes a planned schedule. Once it is approved, we aim to start within three days, conditions apply.
Do I need council approval to renovate a kitchen or bathroom in NSW?
Many internal kitchen and bathroom renovations that do not change the structure can be done as exempt development, without council approval. Structural changes, heritage properties and some other work may need approval, so check the NSW Planning Portal or ask us during your consultation.
Do I need strata approval to renovate my apartment?
Usually, yes. In a strata building, bathroom and kitchen renovations often affect common property, such as waterproofing, pipes or walls, so you will normally need approval from the owners corporation first. We can provide the scope of work and insurance details your strata manager asks for.
Who can do bathroom waterproofing in NSW?
In NSW, waterproofing is licensed trade work, and a contractor licence is needed for residential waterproofing valued at more than $5,000 in labour and materials. Wet area waterproofing should meet Australian Standard AS 3740. In our bathroom and laundry renovations, waterproofing is completed by appropriately licensed trades before any tiles are laid. Will I get a written contract and home building insurance?
Yes. We confirm the scope, price and start date in writing before work begins. Under NSW law, residential building work over $5,000 needs a written contract and the deposit cannot be more than 10% of the price. Work over $20,000 also needs Home Building Compensation Fund cover and includes a five business day cooling-off period. See NSW Fair Trading for details.
Can we live at home during the renovation?
Usually, yes. We plan the work to keep disruption low, protect the rest of your home, and tell you in advance about any days when water or power will be off. For a full home renovation, we will talk through whether moving out for part of the project makes sense.
Can you help with renovation design ideas?
Yes. We can suggest layouts, materials, fixtures and colours that suit your space and budget, and adjust the plan until you are happy with it before we quote.
